Title: Multiple Organ Protection of Oral Antidiabetic Drug Dipeptidyl Peptidase IV(DPP-4) Inhibitors
Abstract: Dipeptidyl peptidase Ⅳ(DPP-4) inhibitors are a new type of oral antidiabetic drugs appeared in recent years,which provides new approaches for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. DPP-4 inhibitors currently include five drugs as sitagliptin, vildagliptin, saxagliptin, alogliptin and linagliptin. Most animal experiments and clinical trials proved that DPP-4inhibitors could not only control blood sugar bidirectionally, but also show positive effects on organs like pancreas, cardiovascular, kidney and liver. This article summarizes the knowledge of DPP-4 inhibitor and their multi-organ protective effects, to show the advantages and further development trends, and to provide reference for clinical use.
