Abstract: My love of popular culture began the moment I heard the song "It's a Sin" by the Pet Shop Boys on the local pop music radio station in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1987. For the first time I heard popular music that not only spoke to my childhood religious background but also challenged it in some way. As best as I could for a nine-year-old, I devoured the song without really understanding it or what it would mean to me later. But I listened to the radio constantly, praying that the song about sin would come onto the airways.KeywordsPopular CultureMusic VideoPopular MusicLyrical ThemeDance MusicThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
