Title: Health Care System Use and Disparities in Integrative Health Services
Abstract: Most developed countries ensure access to health care for all citizens, and the United States is the major exception to this rule. When people do not have access to health care, they are typically left without preventative care, which is one of the central focuses of the integrative health model. This raises ethical questions related to access to health care in the U.S. Not only is going without preventive care putting people at risk, it is also creating additional costs for the health system in the long term. Health disparities related to race, ethnicity, and age will be discussed in this chapter, and concepts of health equity and health inequality will be introduced.
