A critical component in the design and development of the V(INT)2 system is the determination of the volume, format, and level of battlefield information needed by commanders at different levels of combat support. This report analyzes and describes the functional and informational requirements unique to each of the following echelons: battalion, company, platoon, and individual armored vehicle. In support of these requirements, the capabilities of V(INT)2 for the acquisition, transmission, and interpretation of battlefield information are identified and illustrated. The doctrinal implications of V(INT)2 for combat vehicles are suggested, and substantiate the system's potential for a revolutionary impact on armor operations. In conclusion, the report provides a foundation for determining the user-oriented guidelines and hardware specifications required for the design and development of the V(INT)2 system architecture.
