Title: Food function and status : analysis of faunal remains from the Maya site of Pusilhá , Belize
Abstract: This essay is a study of faunal remains from the archaeological site of Pusilha, Toledo District, Belize. Based upon data collected by the Pusilha Archaeological Project over five seasons of survey in the field, I argue that the remains of large game animals, especially deer, supports conclusions about social differentiation reached by Braswell and Volta and shows which areas may have been used for ceremonial functions
