Abstract: Experiments on the decays ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}({K}^{+})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{+}+\ensuremath{\nu}$ have been investigated to look for the possible existence of an excited electron (${e}^{\ensuremath{'}}$) with a mass of the order of a few tens of MeV. No evidence for such a particle was found. Assuming an ${e}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ mass of $20{m}_{e}$ the upper limits for the weak axial-vector coupling constant to the hypothetical excited electron were found to be ${(\frac{{{g}_{A}}^{\ensuremath{'}}}{{g}_{A}})}_{\ensuremath{\Delta}S=0}\ensuremath{\cong}0.01$ from ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ decay and ${(\frac{{{g}_{A}}^{\ensuremath{'}}}{{g}_{A}})}_{\ensuremath{\Delta}S=1}\ensuremath{\cong}0.6$ from ${K}^{+}$ decay.
