Title: Development of Avionics Hardware in the Loop Test Platform for UAV Flight Control System
Abstract: The avionics systems, especially the flight management and control systems, are some of the most critical elements of any aircraft, more so for an autonomous aircraft. Testing these systems in a realistic synthetic environment is an important process. Flight testing full scale aircraft in the real world environment has always been expensive. Additionally, new emerging technologies require extensive testing and doing so in the full scale environment is cost prohibitive. It is logical therefore, to develop a suitable simulation environment in which the avionics systems can be tested, just as they would be on the actual aircraft. This paper discusses the development of such a simulation system, and conduct a series of flight tests to compare the data between the hardware in the loop test with digital simulation.
