Title: Methods for Recording the Continuous Fetal Heart Rate and Uterine Contractions
Abstract: Following a symposium on fetal heart monitoring in Newark, U.S.A. in 1971 (I.J.O. & G., 1972) a committee was set up chaired by the editor, Dr. H. Kaminetzky. The aim of the committee, which met in March 1972, was to suggest standards for classification of the terminology in use in fetal heart monitoring, and the standardisation of instrumentation. A summary of the suggestions regarding monitoring equipment follows.
