Title: [Diagnostic problems associated with chronic subdural hematoma in the elderly (case study)].
Abstract: The authors give an account of a case of chronic subdural hematoma caused by the indirect application of force to the skull (after the patient had fallen, landing violently on the backside). They discuss the specific problems which seemingly trivial skull injuries in elderly people pose in terms of diagnosis and medical expert opinions. Relying on the available literature, the authors go on to deal with the pathogenesis and differential diagnosis of chronic subdural hematoma due to injury and of pachymeningosis haemorrhagica interna.
