Title: European approval for cervical cancer vaccine
Abstract: Last month saw the timely approval of the second of two vaccines capable of preventing cervical cancer. GlaxoSmithKline’s Cervarix received European approval days after the UK’s Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported that at least 10 per cent of girls in England are infected with the human papilloma virus (HPV), which can cause genital warts and cervical cancer.
