Abstract: Physical examination of the skin is the most important step in differentiating intertriginous dermatoses. Once the eruption is recognized as a primarily intertriginous problem, the diagnostic possibilities are comparatively limited. Determination of the primary lesion (eg, blister, scale, nodule), together with some history and simple diagnostic tests, can usually pinpoint the specific diagnosis.
