Title: [Modifications in bone structure caused by plate osteosynthesis of the long bones in growing experimental animals].
Abstract: Periosteal function of growing bones was studied in young sheep. Periosteal devascularisation and tibial plate implantation caused partial cortical necrosis and porosity of endostally vascularized cortex. Plate implantation induced epiphyseal activities. After 8 months differences in bone length of 2.5 mm were observed.
