Abstract: In this research, the factors related with Total Body Bone Mineral Density·Bone Mineral Content in the young male adults were analyzed. The study subjects were 61 young male adults in Seoul. Their body composition and BMD and BMC were measured with Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry(PRODIGY, GE Medical System Lunar). The results were as follows. 1) The whole body bone mineral density was 1.244±0.092g/㎠, the whole body bone mineral content was 3120.65±545.89g, T-score of the whole body bone mineral density was 0.31±1.12, and Z-score was 0.49 ± 1.00. Among 61 subjects, there were no subject with score less than age-expected score based on Z-score. Six subjects(10%) were scored not more than -1, 15 subjects(24%) were scored -1~0, 20 subjects(33%) were scored 0~not more than 1, 15 subjects(25%) were scored 1~not more than 2, and 5 subjects(8%) were scored not less than 2. 2) The correlations between the Total Body Bone Mineral Density·Bone Mineral Content and the factors Height(㎝), Weight(㎏), Tissue(g), Lean(g), Fat free(g) are statistically significant(p<.01). Based on these results, it is concluded that the maintenance of proper weight and an increase of bone density mass are helpful for the prevention of losing bone density and osteoporosis.
