Title: Studies on Nominalization by Mainstream Linguistic Schools
Abstract: Nominalization is a universal characteristic of human language, however, we know only a little about (Jacobs, 1968). Since years, different scholars in different schools gave their own explanation of this phenomenon from various approaches, levels and depths, especially some mainstream linguistic schools: traditional grammar, structuralistic linguistics, transformational-generative linguistics, systemic-functional linguistics and cognitive linguistics. This thesis tries to give a survey on the research achievements of nominalization by mainstream linguistic schools, find their lacking points, thus give our own views, searching for a new standing points, so as to find out the regularity and essential of nominalization more scientifically and effectively.
