Title: Effect on Corneal Epithelium after Phacomusification
Abstract: Objective To study the effect on corneal epithelium after phacomusification. Methods 680 cases (680 eyes) of age-related cataract were performed phacomusification.Cataract lens were classified into 1~4 degrees before the operations. The corneal epithelium were studied after operations. The average density of endothelial cells and the percentage of hexagonal cells of corneal epithelium were observed before and after operations. Results There was no difference in the average density and the percentage of hexagonal cells in lens classification 0~1 degree before and after operations. But there was evident difference in lens classification 2 degree. The edema of corneal epithelium was subsided after 2~5 days. Conclusion To alleviate the trauma of the corneal epithelium, the best time for phacomusification is before the lens has become too rigid.
