Title: [The relationship between activities of chitinase and beta-1,3-glucanase and resistance to rhizomania in sugar beet].
Abstract: The relationship between activities ofchitinase and β-1,3-glucanase and resistance torhizomania of sugar beet were studied in diseased soiland disease-free soil by using a method of compara-tive physiology. Two resistant varieties and two sus-ceptible ones of sugar beet were used in thisexperiment. Chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase activitiesof the resistant varieties were higher than the suscep-tible ones in either diseased soil or disease-free soil(Figs.1–4). There is a positive correlation between chitinase, β-1,3-glucanase activity and yield of beetin diseased soil (Table 2), suggesting that pathogeninfection can induce resistance to rhizomania throughactivating chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase.
