Abstract:With nearly 17500 native higher plant species,India is one of the eight crop origin centers.The flora of India is divided into eight regions,which include Western Himalaya,Eastern Himalaya,Assam,Indus...With nearly 17500 native higher plant species,India is one of the eight crop origin centers.The flora of India is divided into eight regions,which include Western Himalaya,Eastern Himalaya,Assam,Indus Plain,Ganga Plain,Deccan Plateau,Malabar and the Andaman.A national system for plant genetic resources conservation has been established over the country,which includes 6 styles of in situ conservation and 229 genebanks for ex situ conservation.The national base collection for plant germplasm is up to 350 000,while the active collection is about 176 000.The National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources(NBPGR) has the responsibility to import the plant genetic resources for research purpose,while the National Biodiversity Authority(NBA) is in charge of the export for all purpose.Read More
