Title: Analysis on Epidemiological Characteristic of Varicella in Shandong Province in 2007-2009
Abstract: Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of varicella in Shandong province from 2007-2009,and provide advices for varicella control.Methods All the data were collected from Disease Surveillance Information Reporting System and Public Health Emergency Events Reporting System of Chinese Information System for Disease Control and Prevention,and the data were analyzed with descriptive statistics.Results 61,886 varicella cases were reported in Shandong province from 2007 to 2009,and one case died.The average incidence of varicella during 2007-2009 was 22.03/100,000.Most of cases occurred in spring and winter.The number of male cases was more than the females and the sex ratio(boys to girls)was 1.42:1.Most cases were 3 to 10 years old,and the incidence of varicella≤10 years old was 117.59/100,000.During 2007~2009,the number of outbreaks was 72.Most of them happened in the kindergartens and the elementary schools.Conclusion Children were high-risk population.Surveillance should be strengthened in kindergartens and elementary schools.It is critical to isolate varicella case timely and improve vaccine coverage for varicella control.
