Title: Risk factors of nosocomial infections in elderly patients with acute abdomen during perioperative period
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate related factors of nosocomial infections in elderly patients with acute abdomen during perioperative period so as to prevent the postoperative nosocomial infections.METHODS The medical records collected from the nosocomial infection report card and the information department were retrospectively analyzed,then the incidence of postoperative nosocomial infections in 324elderly patients with acute abdomen who were hospitalized from Jan 2010to Dec 2012were investigated and analyzed.RESULTS Of 324 cases of acute abdomen patients investigated,the nosocomial infections occurred in 59patients with infection rate of 18.2%;the urinary tract,respiratory tract,and gastrointestinal tract ranked the top three infection sites, accounting for 22.0%,23.7%,and 15.3%,respectively.All cases have used more than one antibiotics with the utilization rate of 100.0%.The incidence of postoperative nosocomial infections in the elderly patients with acute abdomen was related to the critical surgical disease and the complication of underlying disease.Of 59cases of patients with nosocomial infections,there were 48cases of patients complicated with one or more than one chronic underlying diseases,including 15(31.25%)cases with diabetes mellitus and 8(16.66%)cases with hypertension. CONCLUSIONS The elderly patients with acute abdominal pain are prone to the urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections,or gastrointestinal tract infections,the patients with underlying diseases in particularly,thus it is necessary to fully prepare before the surgery,strictly perform the aseptic operation for invasive operation,and implement the postoperative primary nursing carefully so as to effectively prevent nosocomial infections.
