Title: Clinical Effect of Pit and Fissure Sealant Used in Combination with Self-etching Adhesive and Enameloplasty Sealant Technique
Abstract: Objective:To observe the clinical effect of pit and fissure sealant used in combination with self-etching adhesive and enameloplasty sealant technique(EST)on molar following orthodontic treatment.Methods:154 health mandible the first or second molar in 54 orthdontic treatment patients aged from 9 to 16 years were divided into two groups. The teeth in one side used self-etching adhesive and EST while the teeth in other side used self-etching adhesive, and sealed with sealant(ConciseTM,3M-ESPE).The rate of the sealant reservation and the caries decreased were compared in two groups, and used SPSS 13.0 software package for Chi-square test. Results:The full retention rates in self-etching adhesive with EST and in self-etching adhesive were 87% and 69% respectively after treatment. There were 2 caries in patients using self-etching adhesive and EST,while 4 caries in patients using self-etching adhesive. The caries decreased rate was 50%.The operating time using self-etching adhesive and EST was(150±12)s,not much longer than only using self-etching adhesive.Conclusion:Self-etching adhesive may use to replace the phosphate acids in pit and fissure sealant.
