Title: Analysis on Evidence-based Postoperative Pain Assessment Practices by Surgical Nurses and Its Related Factors
Abstract: Objective To investigate the level of three types of evidence-based postoperative pain assessment practices by surgical nurses and their related factors.Methods With convenience sampling,a total of 258 surgical nurses were investigated with Chinese version Dimensions of Postoperative Pain Assessment Nursing Practice Questionnaire(PPA-NPQ),and multiple liner regression analysis was used to determine the related factors.Results The stage of surgical nurses using all three postoperative assessment practices,systematic pain assessment,assessment of patient′s PCA device use and acceptance of patient′s report of pain were all at the level of sometimes persuaded to use.Five influence factors were finally determined as follows:whether they had taken a pain program,number of sources used to identify solutions,age,and number of professional journals read regularly and whether they tried to put evidence based knowledge into clinical practices.Conclusion The current stage of surgical nurses using the three kinds of postoperative assessment practices are at a low level,and have many related factors.It should make better strategies and improve the postoperative pain management.
