Title: Design of Shaking Table Test on Steel Structure Added with Viscoelastic Dampers——Size Selection of Dampers Based on OpenSees
Abstract: In this paper,the size selection method of dampers is based on an example of shaking table test on a 3-story steel structure added with VE dampers.First,cyclic loading test of a damper with a certain size is conducted to obtain the hysteretic loop.And the hysteretic loop is converted to those of dampers with other various sizes through the similarity relations of VE dampers.All kinds of dampers are parametrically identified by using Bouc-Wen model and added into the steel structure model as link elements.The dynamic time-history analyses of the structures added with various sizes of dampers and structure without damper under 3earthquake motions with various PGA are executed using OpenSees.Through a comprehensive consideration of control effect and maximum strain of the dampers,the appropriate damper size is determined.In this method,based on the similarity relations,dampers with various sizes have no need to be tested one by one in order to obtain the hysteretic loops.The hysteretic loops can be well parametrically identified by Bouc-Wen model,and the shaking table test can be simulated by OpenSees.The appropriate damper size can be conveniently determined for the proposed selection target.
