Title: Study on synthesis of azelaic acid by using phase transfer catalyst
Abstract: The synthesis of azelaic acid through oxidation of ol eic acid with 50% aqueous hydrogen peroxide has been studied by using catalyst containing tungsten and phase transfer catalyst.Effects of catalysts, phase transfer catalysts, molar ratio of N to W,amount of catalyst were also discussed.Catalysis by phosphotungstic acid /(50% H 2O 2)/TOMAC was reported to occur in high conversions and selectivities under two-phase conditions. The results showed that the amount of catalyst used based on the weight of oleic acid was 2.0%~3.0%,molar ratio of N to W was 0.6∶1,reaction temperature was 95~100℃ and reaction time was 8h.Conversion of oleic acid and selectivity for azelaic acid were 100% and 91.5% respectively.
