Title: Curative effect of radiofrequency ablation for benign hepatic tumor
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the efficacy and application value of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for benign hepatic tumor. Methods A total of 63 patients of hepatic benign tumor, including 56 cases of hepatic cavernous hemangioma, 6 cases of inflammatory pseudotumor and 1 case of lipoma with total 76 focuses (diameter ranging 1.3 to 8.4 cm with a mean of 3.67 cm), underwent radiofrequency ablation percutaneously guided by Bultrasound. Results Sixtythree patients completed the therapy successfully once, 2 cases occurred skin burn of Ⅱ degree, and no cases developed any complications. Fiftyseven out of 67 patients were followed up for mean 31 months. Enhanced CT/MRI scan or ultrasonic graphy showed that the focuses disappeared in 34 cases (59.6%), reduced more than 50% in volume in 13 cases (22.8%), reduced less than 50% in volume in 7 cases (12.3%), reduced and then relaplsed in 3 cases (5.3%). Conclusion RFA therapy was a minimally invasive, simple, safe and effective approach for benign hepatic tumor of small or middle focuses.
