Title: Study on Nitrogen Uptake and Use Efficiency in Different Grain Yield Types of Indica Rice (Oryza sativa L. ) Varieties
Abstract: Eighty eight and one hundred and twenty two conventionally indica. rice varieties were hydroponically cultured in 2001 and 2002 respectively, The tested rice varieties were classified into 6 types based on their yield level by the MinSSw method to investigate the differences of nitrogen uptake and use efficiency among different grain yield types of rice varieties. The results were as follow: As grain yield increased, plant nitrogen content at heading, nitrogen uptake before and after heading, ratio of nitrogen uptake after heading to total nitrogen uptake, ratio of nitrogen transport to panicle at mature, nitrogen use efficiency for grain yield and nitrogen harvest index significantly increased; The analysis of polynomial regression of nitrogen uptake and use efficiency traits to grain yields showed that nitrogen uptake before and after heading, nitrogen use efficiency for grain yield affected yield significantly. Grain yield increased with the increasing of nitrogen uptake before and after heading, and nitrogen use efficiency for grain yield.
