Title: Nationalism and National State Identity in Late Qing Dynasty——Focusing on Liang Qi-chao
Abstract: The nationalism which came from western countries in late Qing Dynasty had caused a crisis of national state identity.By emphasizing the unitary blood relationship of nationality and the theory of nation-state,the revolutionists appealed excluding the Manchu nationality.However,by stressing the nation's cultural blend of nationalities,royalists advocated the nationalism which had contained both Manchu and Han nationalities.Liang Qichao was a powerful promoter of spreading nationalism in China.He changed his attitude several times in the late Qing period,which reflected the intelligentsia's profound thinking of national identity.
