Title: A Study of Representative Vegetation Effects on Soil Water Potential in Taihang Mountainous Region
Abstract: Different types of vegetations have different influence on soil water potential, and the study of this different influence is important for realizing water cycle mechanism and determining rational land utilization. In this study,we choose three typical representative vegetations(weeds, acacia and arborvitae) of Taihang mountainous region at Chongling catchment. The soil water potential has been observed by tensiometer, and combined with the soil water content measured,we get the soil water retention curve.Through the analysis of the dynamics of soil water potential of the three vegetations,we can find that the soil water potential descends from March to June, ascends in July and August with fluctuation, then descends in September and October again. And the differences among soil water potential of the three vegetation land are larger in wet years than that in dry years.Through analysis of the soil water potential profile,it is found that the soil water for evapotranspiration in weeds land is mainly from superficial zone, and acacia land from both superficial zone and deeper zone, while evapotranspiration of arborvitae is relatively smaller. The soil water in all depth zones are in a state of shrewd change, according to the higher value of coefficient of variation.Based on the changes of soil water potential after rain,it is found that the soil water of acacia land reacts the quickliest, and the soil water of arborvitae land is most retentive.
