Title: Detection of Contact Toxicity of Several Chemical Pesticides Against Cashew Bud-eating Weevil in the Laboratory
Abstract: Using topical application, the toxicity of 7 pesticides to bud-eating weevil (Scythropus yasumatsui Kono et Morimoto) adults was determined under laboratory conditions. Insecticidal toxicity of 7 pesticides was in the order of fipronil beta-cypermethrin dichlorvos chlorpyrifos phoxim acephate trichlorfon. Fipronil was the most toxic with an LD50 being 0.0096 μg/adult after 24 hours, and beta-cypermethrin and dichlorvos are also toxic to bud-eating weevil adults with the LD50 being 0.0040 μg/adult and 0.0432 μg/adult respectively after 72 hours. All these three insecticides were recommended for controlling bud-eating weevil adults.
