Title: Efficacy of pingyangmycin combined with electroporation therapy on head and neck cancer in the elderly
Abstract: Objectives To investigate the effects of pingyangmycin combined with electroporation therapy on head and neck cancer in the elderly. Methods 30 patients with head and neck cancer (test group) were treated with electroporation therapy combined with pingyangmycin intratumorally injection , and then received postoperative radiotherapy. Another 30 patients with head and neck cancer (control group) were treated with other treatments. All participating patients received a long-term follow-up. The short-term effects were assessed by the international general four assessment standards , and the long-term follow-up data were analyzed by survival analysis and Logrank inspection. Results No local recurrence was recorded in 28 patients during the follow-up of 12 months. The average survival period, the median survival period, 3-and 5-year survival rates of the test group were significantly higher than those of control group. But the survival rates between the two groups were not significantly different by Logrank test. Conclusion Electrochemical therapy was one of the safe and effective methods for head and neck cancer.
