Title: Modern Design: A Combination of Science and Art
Abstract: Modern design is a social activity. The close association of design with the material production and science and technology in a specific society brings to the design its objective feature similar to that of natural science. The obvious relationship between design and politics, culture, economy and art in a particular society gives design an ideological flavor. These two features of design make design a unique material cultural activity and the science of design a comprehensive discipline with the characteristics of both natural science and the humanities. Industrial design is a typical case worth mentioning, which, undoubtedly, is the product of both sci-tech and art. Modern design is developing in the humanistic, individualized, digital, green direction, which is based on the combination of science and art.
