Abstract: Combining epic,myth and story,Ahlujure,a Yi epic circulating in the Xiaolianshan Mountain,Yunnan Province,is divided into 18 parts: The Origin,The Birth,The Growth,Leaving Father to Look for Mother,Shooting the Moon and the Sun,Calling to the Moon and the Sun,Fighting Mosquitoes,Snakes and Clams,Killing the Devils to Save Mother,Testing the Child,Thunderbolt,Flat Land,Taming Beasts,Taming Horses,Taming Witches,Taming Devils,Killing Evil Dragons,The Death and the Battle between the Dragon and the Eagle. It reflects the ancient philosophy,history,religion and culture of the ancient Yi people and is of unique value in both artistic attainment and ideology. It,therefore,can serve as important literature for the research of the Yi people in general in Yunnan Province.
