Title: Effect of 1-MCP on Longyuanqiuli Plum Quality and Physiological Characters During Cold Storage
Abstract:Longyuanqiuli plum(Prunus Salicina Lindl) were treated with concentrations of 0- (control), 0.5-, 1.0 and 2.0 uL/L 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) for 12 h at ambient temperature (18~20 ℃) and stored at ...Longyuanqiuli plum(Prunus Salicina Lindl) were treated with concentrations of 0- (control), 0.5-, 1.0 and 2.0 uL/L 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) for 12 h at ambient temperature (18~20 ℃) and stored at ambient temperature and 0 ℃ respectively for measurement of respiration and evaluation of fruit storability. CO2 production, firmness, Brix, acidity, POD and PPO were determined periodically after cold storage and after subsequent shelf life of 5days at 20 ℃. During storage, fruit treated with 1-MCP showed lower POD and PPO activities than those of control fruit.1-MCP strongly inhibited CO2 production. Higher values of firmness were observed in 1-MCP-treated plums compared with control,1-MCP-treated fruits softened more slower than untreated fruits.1-MCP treatment reduced acidity loss. And 1-MCP did not affect sugar content. Thus, 1-MCP could be used as a agrochemical to maintain quality during postharvest storage of plums, which usually have a very short shelf-life.Read More
