Title: THE SIGNIFICANCE OF STANDARD AXILLARY LYMPH NODE DISSECTION IN BREAST CANCER SURGERY
Abstract: Objective: To discuss the rational method for axillary lymph node dissection(ALND) in breast cancer patients and its significance in breast cancer surgery. Methods: 381 patients with standard axillary lymph node dissection for breast cancer were reviewed retrospectively. Results: The average time for standard axillary lymph node dissection in 381 patients was twelve minutes. The average number of lymph node dissected was 16 6. After operation, 3 cases presented with axillary seroma, 3 cases with mild endema, and 11 with mild paresthesia in the upper arms. All the patients had normal shoulder movement 1 month after operation and the average hospital stay time after operation is 7 2 days. Conclusions: The performance of standard ALND to breast cancer patients with proper methods is quite safe and its complication is completely acceptable.
