Title: Interspecific Competition and Reproduction of Three Species of Entomopathogenic Nematodes in Insect Host
Abstract: Competitive interaction and reproduction of three species of entomopathogenic nematodes Steinernema longicaudum X-7(Sl),S.carpocapsae All (Sc) and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora H06(Hb) in Galleria larvae were determined.Whether with the natural infection method or the injection infection method,Sl infected significantly more Galleria hosts than Hb or Sc,and Sc caused higher larval mortality than Hb.When Hb was inoculated in the same Galleria larva with Steinernema genus nematodes, adverse effects on development were observed for Hb but only slightly for Steinernema genus nematodes. When Steinernema genus nematodes Sl and Sc were inoculated in the same Galleria hosts,no adverse effects occurred to the development of each of the two nematode species.
