Abstract: There were some differences of the custom of adopting sons from different clans in the different regions of Fujian and Taiwan during the Qing Dynasty.In the region of Northwest Fujian,the custom of adopting sons from different clans was not popular.Adopting sons from different clans had no right to inherit the adoptive fater's clan pedigree,and could only inherit part of his property.But in the region of Southeast Fujian,the custom of adopting sons from different clans was popular.Adopting sons from different clans had rights to inherit the adoptive fater's clan pedigree and most part of his property.In the region of Taiwan,common family adopted sons from different clans for passing down the clan pedigree.Adopting sons from different clans had rights to inherit the adoptive fater's clan pedigree and his property.They had the same rights as his adoptive fater's other sons in the family.
