Title: Influencing factors on the prognosis of the surgical resection of stage IIIA-N2 non-small cell lung cancer
Abstract: Objective To analyze the influencing factors on the prognosis of the surgical resection of stage Ⅲ A-N2 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods The clinical data of 142 patients of Ⅲ A-N2 NSCLC received surgical resection from March 1996 to January 2007 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The factors that might affect the survival rate was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method. The relationship between each single factor and the prognosis was tested with Log-rank, using the Cox model analysis multivariate. Results The 1-year, 3-year, 5-year survival rates were 65.7%, 48.2%, 17.3%, respectively. According to univariate analysis, tumor resection, the transferred number of N2 lymph node, the transferred number of lymph node group, postoperative chemotherapy were found to exert an impact on the survival rate. Conclusion The survival rate of patients with Ⅲ A stage-N2 NSCLC was low. The factors influencing the prognosis mostly were the transferred number of N2 lymph node, and the cycles of chemotherapy.
