Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlation among anxiety,depression and pharyngeal paraesthesia and to analyze the difference of psychological questionnaire scores in different gender and various course...OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlation among anxiety,depression and pharyngeal paraesthesia and to analyze the difference of psychological questionnaire scores in different gender and various course of patients.METHODS Fifty patients with pharyngeal paraesthesia(study group) and forty normal controls(control group) were surveyed by using four psychological questionnaires:self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),self-rating depression scale(SDS),Hamilton depression scale(HAMD).The psychological questionnaire scores were compared and analyzed between study group and control group,and among different groups divided by gender and clinic course.RESULTS The scores of SAS,HAMA,SDS,HAMD in study group were higher than those in control group.The index score of SAS and SDS were 47.5±12.7,48.2±9.5 in study group and 31.6 ±4.6,32.7±4.6 in control group.The mean rank of HAMA and HAMD were 65.28,58.09 in study group and 20.78,29.76 in control group.The differences were statistically significant(all P0.05).The scores of SAS,HAMA,SDS,HAMD showed no statistically differences between male group and female group(all P0.05).The scores of four questionnaires mentioned above were different among different groups divided by clinic course.Further analysis showed that the scores of SAS,HAMA,SDS,HAMD in group A(with the course of less than 5 years)were higher than the scores in group B(with the course of 5-10 years)and group C(with the course of more than 10 years).The differences were statistically significant(all P0.05).CONCLUSION Pharyngeal paraesthesia patients had more anxiety and depression symptoms than healthy persons.It should be considered about psychological health in pharyngeal paraesthesia patients,especially in those with long clinic course.However,we found no significant difference between different gender patients.Read More
