Title: EXPRESSION OF PROTEIN P53 IN EPITHELIAL OVARIAN TUMORS AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE
Abstract: ObjectiveTo investigate the significance of protein P53 expression in the ovarian epithelial tumor. Methods Immunohistochemical method was applied to detect the P53 expression in 83 patients ovarian epithelial tumor. The relationship of P53 expression with pathological type, cell differentiation, and clinical staging was analyzed.ResultsP53 expression in malignant group was significantly higher than those in borderline and in benign group(χ~2=3.857,21.776;P0.01).The P53 expression in malignant group was irrelevant to histological type(χ~2=0.005,P0.05);it was evidently less expressed in G_1 and G_2 groups than in G_3 group(χ~2=5.154,7.540;P0.05);its expression in stages Ⅰ and Ⅱ was less than that of stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ(χ~2=5.236,P0.05).The 5-year survival rate in patients with P53 positive was less than those with P53 negative(χ~2= 4.919,P0.05).ConclusionThe detection of P53 expression is of certain significance in differential diagnosis between malignant and nonmalignant epithelial ovarian tumor, and in assessment of the prognosis of ovarian carcinoma.
