Abstract:Based on the data of Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS),this paper studied the income inequality between urban and rural residents and the underlying causes.The results of the study show that:income ...Based on the data of Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS),this paper studied the income inequality between urban and rural residents and the underlying causes.The results of the study show that:income inequality in China,in general,is a serious phenomenon,income inequality in urban areas is more serious than that in rural areas,and the income gap in rural areas is remarkably widening;from a regional perspective,income inequality between eastern and western regions is more serious than that between central and northeastern regions;decomposition of the Gini Coefficient shows inequality within urban areas,between urban and rural areas and among different regions is the main factor that has caused the general income inequality,and differences in household registration and education level are also the important factors that have caused the widening of income gap among urban residents.Read More
