Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of mini-invasive percutaneous nephrostomy and high-power holmium laser lithotripsy for treatment of complex renal calculi.Methods 35 cases with complex renal calculi w...Objective To evaluate the effect of mini-invasive percutaneous nephrostomy and high-power holmium laser lithotripsy for treatment of complex renal calculi.Methods 35 cases with complex renal calculi were underwent high-power(40~60W) holmium laser lithotripsy via renal tract of percutaneous nephrostomy.Among them,5 cases complicated with ureteropelvic junction obstruction(UPJO) were performed endopyelotomy by holmium laser.Results The procedures were successful in all the 35 cases.The mean operative duration was 65 minutes.29 cases(82.9%) were obtained stone-free after one session;the other 6 cases were found residual stones and achieved stone-free after one to three extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsies(ESWL).No residual or recurrent calculi occurred in 34 cases within half year follow-up.Normal urination was restored in the UPJO patients without stenosis.Conclusion Mini-invasive percutaneous nephrostomy and high-power holmium laser lithotripsy is safe and effective for treatment of complex renal calculi with advantages as mini-trauma and fast stone-pounding,and the residual calculi can be treated by ESWL.Read More
