Title: Purification and Characterization of Superoxide Dismutase from Chinese Caterpillar Fungus
Abstract: Superoxide dismutase (SOD) from Chinese caterpillar fungus was separated and purified through ammonium sulfate precipitation andcolumn chromatographywith SephadexG-75 gel filtration and DEAE-52 ion exchange. The purified enzyme showed a single band on PAGE. Thespecific activity was 17 855.73 U/mg, the SOD enzyme was 57.3-fold purified, 21.8 % of the SOD activity was recovered. The SOD from Chinesecaterpillar fungus had good heat (40 ℃, 150 min) and acid- base stability in pH 5.0 ̄9.0, in which the activity of SOD did not decline. Everysubunit ofthis SODcontained one iron atom. The enzyme was sensitive toH2O2and Tsuchihashi.
