Title: On Gadamer's Keeping and Developing of Hegel's Philosophy of History
Abstract: Gadamer is a famous German philosopher, whose thought influences current western philosophy greatly. But in western and our own countries, researchers pay much attention to his philosophical hermeneutics as a philosophy, and usually neglect the classical, especially the German Idealism ground of his philosophy. This is just the opposite of his high praise for classical philosophy. This paper tries to grasp the real modern character of his philosophy on the ground of Hegel's classical philosophy of history, with which Gadamer himself identifies.
