Title: Adaptability of New Desirable Rubber Clone REYAN 7-33-97 in Central Mountainous Areas of Hainan Province
Abstract: Rubber clone Reyan 7-33-97 (Hevea brasiliensis) was planted by the Hainan Rubber Group Wushi Branch in a commercial clone trial in the central mountain area in Hainan Province to determine its growth, yield and resistance as well as other characteristics with the PR107 as the control. The clone Reyan 7-33-97 grew faster with the annual girth growth rate of 6.1 cm before and 2.8 cm after the opening for tapping. It yielded higher; the mean dry rubber content was 31% at the first and fourth years after the opening; the annual yield at the first year of tapping was 2.5 kg/tree or 46.3 kg/mu (694.5 kg/ha). This clone performed much better than the control PR107 due to its higher coldhardiness, low tapping panel dryness incidence and higher economic benefits. It is hence recommended for gradual expansion in this region.
