Title: Effects of Seed Treatment on Growth of Maize and Control Effect to Thrips
Abstract: The seeds of maize varicty Jingkenuo 2000 were treated by mixed liquid of Thiamethoxam and Fludionil in different dosage to survey the effects of different coating treatments on growth of maize and the control effect of thrips. The results showed that the seedling stage of the maize seeds of coating treatment was put off 1-2 days than the untreated seeds, and the root length, the number of fibrous root and fresh weight of coating treatment were significantly higher than the untreated seeds, but there was no significant differences in germination rate. The control effect of coating treatments on maize thrips was higher than the control treatment. The most suitable coating ratio of the consumption of mixed liquid and seed dry weight was 1∶ 50,which the control effect could reach 89.40%,the cost was 450 yuan/hm2,the yield was 6 832.5 kg/hm2 and was higher than water control by 45.76%.Therefore,the coating treatments with the mixed liquid of Thiamethoxam and Fludionil could enhance the resistance of maize seed, promote the growth of maize seedling root and effectively control the occurrence of maize thrips, maize borer, cutworm and grub.
