Title: DETERMINATION OF SEVEN VOLATILE HALOGENATED HYDROCARBONS IN DRINKING WATER BY GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY(GC)WITH SWEEP-CAPTURE
Abstract: [Objective]To establish a simple and sensitive gas chromatographic method for the simultaneous determination of seven volatile halogenated hydrocarbons in drinking water.[Methods]The separation was performed on a DB—l7 capillary column.Temperature programming and an ECD detector were applied.Retention time was qualitative and external reference method was quantitative.[Results]The detection limits of seven volatile halogenated hydrocarbons varied from 0.01 to 0.06μg/L.The minimum quantitation concentration varied from 0.03 to 0.20μg/L.Mean recovery of volatile halogenated hydrocarbon standards added to water samples varied from 90.6% to 106.9%,the relative standard deviation was 1.78%-6.49%.Six volatile halogenated hydrocarbons, except for trichloroethylene, were detected in 16 water samples.[Conclusion]The method is sensitive, convenient and accurate, and can be applied to determine many kinds of volatile halogenated hydrocarbons in drinking water.
