Title: Intercultural Translation and Cultural Identity:With Comments on the Cognitive Reconstruction of Chinese Cultural Modernity
Abstract: Since the 1980s,intercultural studies in the sense of critical theory has characterized the cultural turn in Western humanities, with intercultural translation, cultural identity and cultural creativity as the key themes. Edward Said,James Clifford,Homi Bhabha,Stuart Hall and other ground-breaking theorists persistently focus on the phenomena of intercultural translation, such as traveling theory, traveling culture and diasporic cultural identity, and dynamically survey the production and transmission of cultural knowledge as well as cultural identity in heterogeneous space-times. In consequence there has emerged the discourse of intercultural knowledge distinct from traditional as well as post-colonial and postmodern discourses of knowledge. This is beneficial for us to re-cognize Chinese cultural modernity,re-configure contemporary cultural identification and re-construct the field of cultural reference and value system.
