Title: English Translation of Classic Chinese Poetry from the Perspective of Descriptive Translation Studies "Prelude To Water Melody ——when the Moon is Bright" by Xu Yuanchong as an Example
Abstract: The translation of Beauty in sound, beauty in form,and beauty in artistic is the key that works in concert with the spiritual connotation of classic Chinese poetry,the English translation of classical poetry excessively emphasize the empirical theory copy,ignoring the cross-cultural differences between Chinese and the West,so that the effect of English translation is hard to be satisfactory. Descriptive Translation Theory provides a new perspective for the classic Chinese poetry translation practice,through injection of the context, pays attention to the cultural and historical circumstances of poetry itself,lays the foundation for the cultural misreading and aesthetic absence in English translation,reproduces the beauty of artistic conception of classical Chinese poetry,. This paper,taking Xu Yuanchong's Prelude to Water Melody-when the Moon is Bright as an example,explores the English translation of classical Chinese poetry from the perspective of Descriptive Translation Theory,to provide reference for the improvement of Chinese English translation level.
