Title: Effect of leukocyte depletion on the quality of plasma frozen within 24 hours of collection
Abstract: Objective To investigate the quality of plasma prepared from leukodepleted whole blood(WB) .Methods WB was collected according to standard procedures from normal volunteer donors(n=24) ,and then was divided into two equal units no later than 6 hours after collection. One unit was immediately leukodepleted and plasma separated(control group) ,and the other unit was stored overnight at 4℃ and then leukodepleted(experimental group) and plasma separated. All plasma was held in-30℃ refrigerator before testing.Plasma coagulation factors,FⅤ,FⅦ,FⅧ,and Fib and biochemical indicators were tested. Results But,in comparison to control group, experimental group plasma exhibited a lower FⅧ,but other coagulation factors were not significantly reduced. There were also significant statistical differences between their K+,LDH,FHb,but plasma of both groups met current quality standards. Conclusion Leukocyte depletion does not affect the quality of plasma frozen within 24 h of collection(FP24).
