Title: Characteristics of hydrocarbon source rock in the Santanghu Basin of Xinjiang, China
Abstract: There are three sets of source rocks in the Santanghu Basin: the coal source rock in Upper (Triassic) series and Lower Jurassic series of Mesozoic group, the low mature source rock of lacustrine facies in Upper Permian of Paleozoic group and the mature source rock of lacustrine facies in Lower Permian and Carboniferous of Paleozoic. The source rocks are distributed in the Malang depression, Tiaohu depression and Hanshuiquan depression. They are dark mud stone, coal and carboniferous mud stone. The best source rock is the source rock of the Lucaogou Formation of Upper Permian in the Malang depression. It contains abundant organic carbon and are good type. Its output of oil and gas is large and that of carbonate rock high.
