Title: MRI diagnosis and differentiation of pancreatic islet cell tumors
Abstract: Objective To investigate the value of MR imaging in diagnosis and differentiation of pancreatic islet cell tumors. Methods Nine patients with pathologically proven pancreatic islet cell tumors were included in this study. SE T1WI, FSE T2WI with fat suppression, dynamic contrast-enhanced FSPGR and delayed SE T1WI sequences were used in MR scanning. Results There were ten lesions of pancreas on MR images among these ten patients. One patient of non-functioning islet cell tumor had two lesions. Seven lesions (7/10) were hyperintensity on T2WI with fat suppression and hypointensity on T1WI of FSPGR sequence. On the dynamic images after Gd-DTPA, four lesions (4/10) were enhanced obviously on all phases, four lesions were mild enhanced on arterial phase and intense enhanced on venous and parenchyma phases gradually, two lesions were not enhanced in the center and were enhanced surrounded. Conclusion MRI is of great value in the diagnosis and differentiation of islet cell tumors.
